Nicholas J. LaFountain

Biographic Information

Nicholas Lafountain Attorney Nicholas J. LaFountain has extensive experience litigating and negotiating civil disputes of many types. He has been successfully representing clients in the courtroom since 2004. As an attorney his negotiating experience, knowledge of the law, and familiarity with the court system help him achieve favorable results for his clients both inside and outside of the court room. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Attorney LaFountain was also trained in how to mediate cases, and he is a current member of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation. In addition to practicing law, he also uses his mediation training and family law litigation experience to offer mediation to couples getting divorced, and to other parties involved in family law cases.

Attorney LaFountain primarily focuses his legal practice on divorce/family law. He does still accept and enjoy working on other types of civil litigation cases. Apart from divorce and family law cases, his civil practice includes personal injury cases, landlord/tenant matters, plaintiff representation, and defense representation. More specific examples of the cases he handles include: auto accidents; slip and falls; injuries caused by third parties; contract disputes; partnership and other business disputes; consumer protections claims; probate litigation; condominium litigation; insurance claims; and property disputes.

As an experienced divorce lawyer, Attorney LaFountain understands that divorce/family law cases involve much more than dividing property, or who sees the children when. The emotional toll of a dissolving marriage can be devastating, to both the parties and their children. Attorney LaFountain keeps that in mind at all steps, to better help resolve the matter at hand, and to try minimizing post-divorce conflicts once the case is resolved.

In all types of legal matters, Attorney LaFountain firmly believes in providing his legal clients with an informed analysis, options, and value. In selecting a strategy for a particular legal matter, clients are kept informed on options and anticipated costs, and clients are asked to participate.

Outside of work, Attorney LaFountain spends most of his free time with his family and volunteering in the local community. His volunteer work includes coaching youth sports, and he has previously served on a local school board and as a scout leader as well.
